Start the new year by knowing who represents you in Sacramento on the California State Assembly Committee on Education

Dear IB Colleagues,

As a new service to our schools, I will be periodically posting copies of comprehensive client briefs from Capitol Advisors, LLC. These briefs will detail new education laws that were passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Newsom in 2019. Each brief is organized by subject area and includes an executive summary highlighting major changes we think you should know about. Bills signed by the Governor take effect on January 1, 2020, unless the bill specifically states otherwise (i.e. budget bills).

The client brief (linked below) covers legislation signed into law affecting student services, including child nutrition, homeless and foster youth, immigration services, and pupil health.

My goal in providing these briefs is to insure that everyone is informed about some of the most pressing issues facing education in California. CAWS has worked with Capitol Advisors for years on a variety of state policies and bills in order to keep IB a prominent topic and agenda item in Sacramento as well as within the offices and departments of the California Department of Education and higher education.

Please share any additional items that you believe are noteworthy with me as it is imperative that CAWS and IB schools are viewed as a network of educators dedicated to the finest education possible for the students.

Warm regards,
Robin
