Application for CAWS Gary Prather IB/DP Student of the Year: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

The Garry Prather Outstanding IB Student Award is offered in recognition of academic excellence.

The due date for this application is December 20, 2019. Only dues paying member schools are eligible for CAWS scholarships and awards. Dues must be received by December 20, 2020

Winners will be contacted for completion of photo/video release forms. Schools with winning applications will be notified by the end of January 2020.

Award Description and Requirements

Six awards are offered each academic year, with two each for DP, MYP and PYP. For each level, one winner will be chosen from Northern California member schools and one winner will be chosen from Southern California member schools.

Students must be in the final year of their program. At the DP level, only full IB Diploma candidates will be considered.
Nominators (principal or coordinator) must submit: 1) a word-processed, 500 word maxiumum statement of why you are recommending this student and 2) student transcripts.
Students must submit an essay: “How has the IB enriched your academic experiences?” PYP students – minimum 300 words, MYP – 500 words, DP – 650 words

Each winner will receive a plaque. The DP winners each will receive an $2500 cash award. Each MYP and PYP winner will receive a $1,000 cash award and the school will also receive $500 to use towards their IB program(s). The award should be presented at a school assembly or other award ceremony at your school.

For this award CAWS will consider only one application per school site or IB program. CAWS will not accept multiple award applications for the same student. Please complete the application in its entirety. Illegible nominations will not be considered.
