CAWS Board members are enthusiastic educators who embody the values and attributes of the International Baccalaureate while adding their individual practical and inspired insights on how CAWS can best serve our IB community.
CAWS Goals
- Continue working with California institutions to better recognize the value of an IB education
- Build strong relationships with IBA to leverage IBO resources throughout California
- Improve communication and online presence to act as a networking hub in support of IB educators
- Explore new revenue streams, including an increase in the number of IB workshops CAWS provides in California, to further our support of IB educator
CAWS Board General Job Descriptions
All board members should:
- Attend all board meetings (three per year)
- Be employed by CAWS member school
- Contact local schools to promote CAWS events and build relationships with CAWS
- Assist at CAWS events
- Communicate information to member schools within your region:
- Events
- Legislative action
- CAWS’ purpose
- CAWS’ services
- Participate in CAWS Scholarship selection
- Serve on ad hoc committees as needed
- Vote on board motions
- Engage in timely communication with all board members and staff
CAWS Secretary Job Description
- Take accurate notes and minutes at board meetings
- Archive minutes and CAWS documents on website
- Distribute minutes for approval within two weeks of meeting
- Take closed session minutes
