Welcome back to another year of creating sparks that shape the learning of your students.
CAWS continues to serve as the IB Association with the largest number of schools in the United States and North America! California's 228 IB Schools with 282 IB Programmes ranks fourth in the world following the United States, Canada and China. We are also thrilled to welcome 48 Candidate Programmes this year and look forward to getting to know you.
Your CAWS Board and team of consultants met on August 19 to collaborate on planning our annual in-person events and virtual roundtables. We also determined the funding for CAWS Teacher Awards and Student of the Year Scholarships (SOTY).
Our services for legislative and university recognition will continue as we celebrate the approval by UC of 19 IB Courses this summer. IB has approved our request to expand our professional development at Lake Tahoe next summer to three sessions. This has been a goal of CAWS for over fifteen years and we hope to see you in June. Details on these items, our calendar and additional updates will be sent throughout the year. We all look forward to serving you throughout 2023/2024.
CAWS MEMBERSHIP
All Member Programmes receive benefits which include:
- Invitations to attend roundtable discussions in order to share successful practices.
- Advocacy support with the California state legislature.
- Advocacy support with the California Department of Education.
- Advocacy support for University and College recognition.
- Representation and advocacy at International Baccalaureate Americas Regional Associations’ meetings.
- Belonging to a comprehensive network of professionals assisting one another in improving and strengthening the International Baccalaureate in the state of California.
- Summaries and updates of California measures related to the International Baccalaureate Programs in California via our emails.
- 20% discounts on registration fees for our Fall Forum and Spring Seminar when your programme is listed as a member school on our website prior to an event.
- CAWS Member discounts for their products and services offered by most our vendors.
IB Authorized Programme members are eligible to:
- Nominate staff for CAWS Teacher Awards when your programme membership fees are paid and posted on our website by our deadline of 9:00AM on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Each CAWS member school may submit one nomination application per member programme for each award category. All nomination applications with supporting documents are due on January 16, 2022 at 9:00AM
- Nominate a student to receive your CAWS Student of the Year Award when your programme membership fees are paid and posted on our website by our deadline of Saturday, April 6, 2024. Membership fees of $200.00 with an additional $50.00 will be presented as a CAWS Student of the Year Award to programmes who submit requests by our deadline of Saturday, April 6, 2024.
- Please mark these dates on your calendars now as they are the deadlines necessary in order to process Awards and Scholarships. We encourage you to verify that your programme is on our membership list a few days prior to these deadlines.
The price of membership is USD $200 annually for all IB Authorized Programmes and $100.00 for all IB Candidate Programmes. Individual Tier is $25.00.
Reminder - a PO is not a payment. Payments are made by a credit card charge or deposited check. As payments are processed by CAWS, your Programme Membership will be posted on our website.
