At La Cumbre, we are in our 3rd year of candidacy to become the only MYP school in our district which has a PYP school and a high school with a DP pathway. Although I am not a saavy instagram user, I practiced risk-taking to share the ways we bring the learner profile alive on our campus, and I am so happy I did! We have monthly assemblies themed with the 10 attributes, have aligned our citizenship rubric to reflect six of the ten attributes with student-centered language for self reflection, and have incorporated the learner profile into our PBIS strategies and common language. Staff members create door biographies that highlight the attributes they align with most and share them in our first week of school and with families at Back to School Night, and some students use them in their own introduction slides for the school year.
Last year we created student-centered videos for the assembly showcasing how students and staff practice each attribute. This year we are sharing these videos before the assembly in the homeroom classes. I am thrilled to attend the CAWS conference in March and hope we can find even more ways to live the learner profile at La Cumbre.
