A reminder to schools of the upcoming deadline to submit courses to UC for A-G approval.
The primary submission phase closes June 30. It is recommended that courses be submitted to the UC CMP (Course Management Portal) during the primary submission phase to ensure that approved courses are listed in the UC application when it opens on August 1. The CMP will reopen August 1-31 for an additional submission period. After August 31, users will need to wait until next year’s submission period to add courses to their lists.
If you have not yet reviewed your school A-G list to make sure your list accurately reflects your course offerings for next year, now is the time to complete this review. This is especially important for your MYP, DP and CP courses.
The following IB Program courses have been approved or are being submitted for approval:
Music IB HL1 (approved for honors weight)
Vietnamese A Language and Literature IB HL1
Business Management IB HL1 (resubmission for honors weight)
If your school would like to submit any new MYP, DP or CP courses, please contact Dorothy Battenfeld, [email protected]. Teacher stipends are available for courses submitted and approved during the Primary Phase.

California CCI (College and Career Indicator) increases IB recognition.
The CCI, part of the California School Dashboard, views whether high school students
are prepared for success after graduation based on measures like graduation rates,
performance on state tests, and college credit courses. Beginning with the 2026
Dashboard, completion of an IB course with a C- or better will be included. The
previous Dashboards included IB test scores with a score of 4 or better but not IB
course completion. This positive change creates parity with AP.
IB DP History Update
CAWS is seeking instructors to assist with course submissions for the new DP History regional areas of study. Beginning Fall 2027 (first assessment 2028), the new IB History areas of regional study will be Africa & the Middle East, and Asia & Oceania. They will replace the current course titles of History of Africa IB HL2, History of SE Asia and Oceania IB HL2, History of South Asia & Middle East IB HL2. The regional areas of Europe and the Americas remain the same.
CAWS is committed to supporting our IB students and schools. If you need any assistance in reviewing and updating your school A-G list, or if you have questions about UC A-G policies and course recognition, please contact me.
