CTC Tackles Teacher Reading and Performance Assessments, Early Childhood Credentialing

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) had its first meeting of 2022 late last week. Highlights from the meeting are listed below:


  • Staff provided details and timelines on their work to implement SB 488 (Rubio), which requires major changes to the reading instruction assessment of prospective teachers.
  • Commissioners clarified the Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) requirements for teachers earning multiple credentials. 
  • Staff provided a thorough review of the work to advance early childhood education credentialing.
