Important reminder about course titles and duplication: Each one year
MYP/DP/CP course needs its own title and transcript abbreviation. Duplicate
titles will not be accepted for UC/CSU admissions and will disadvantage your
students in the college application process. The UC High School Articulation
Office reports that this continues to be a problem for some IB schools and their
students. For example, if a school offers an SL course over two years, each year
of the SL course needs its own title and transcript abbreviation; they cannot be
the same for both years.
The following courses have been UC A-G approved for the 2025-2026
school year.
- French Ab Initio IB SL
- Italian Ab Initio SL
- Italian Ab Initio IB SL1/Preparation Course
- Geography IB HL1 (now approved for honors under Area G/History/Social Science)
As approved IB Program/International Baccalaureate Organization courses, any
authorized DP/CP school can now add these courses to their school UC A-G list.
The following courses have been submitted or are planned for submission
by the June 30 Primary Phase deadline.
Music IB HL1 (resubmission for honors weight)
Economics IB HL1 (resubmission for honors weight)
- French Ab Initio IB SL1/Preparation Course
- Environmental Systems and Societies IB HL1 and HL2
- English Literature IB SL1/Preparation Course
- Design 1 IB MYP and Design 2 IB MYP (Area G/Interdisciplinary)
- Additional MYP courses
Good news for Math Analysis and Approaches IB HL2 A-G Designation!
After CAWS communication with the UC High School Articulation Office, Math
A/A IB HL2 has retained its Area C classification as “Calculus” with honors
weight.
If your school would like to submit any other new MYP, DP or CP courses, please
contact Dorothy Battenfeld,[email protected]. Teacher stipends are
available for courses submitted and approved during the Primary Phase.
UC and CAWS recommend that schools complete any updates by the Primary
Phase deadline of June 30 to avoid any last minute problems or changes, and so
that students can view an accurate list by the time the UC admissions application
opens on August 1. Errors on an A-G course list can disadvantage your students,
especially University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU)
applicants. The final UC deadline for making any changes to your school A-
G list, or to submit additional courses for the IB Program list is August 31.
